In 2013, music saw the arrival of new musical icons like Lorde, Arianna Grande, Ashton Mahone, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and Krewella. This year also saw the return of megastars like Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Drake, and Kanye West. It seemed like almost every week; artists from past and present were coming out with a new music video, easily making them legends overnight. This week, Kaboom! Magazine has compiled up all of our favorite music videos of 2013 and created Kaboom! Magazine.com “100 Most Explosive Videos of 2013!” “Which new star shinned the brightest?” “Who was most original?” “Is this video Overrated or Underrated?” “Why can’t I stop pressing the play button? All these questions and more will be answered as we have ranked our favorite videos of the year starting at No. 100 all the way down to the most explosive video of the year. Checkout which music videos blew us away in 2013 as start with No. 100……. 100. L.O.E.S. “MC Kings” Newly formed six-man tag group League of Extraordinary Spitters put all of their rap powers together for the visual release of their breakout record, “MC King”. The indie group under the Sound for Sight imprint brought that grassroot Rap City the basement appeal back to the scene on this lyrical-driven single. Undoubtedly, fans gravitated to the record genuinely as it grew and generated over 11k views on YouTube, a noteworthy accomplishment for an act coming out of the Central California region that is constantly overshadowed by the Bay Area and Los Angeles dominating sound. 99. Priceless Da Roc “Yiken” 2013 was the rise of the bay, as so many different hip-hop and R&B acts broke out this year from the yay area. Sharing the same soil as acts like Sage The Gemini, IAMSU, Lil Debbie, and Adrian Marcel; Bay Area rapper Priceless Da Roc used a whole movement to make his way to the main stage. Known to many as “Twerking on Steroids”, Priceless Da Roc put an official stamp on the “Yiken” movement with his official music video entitled “Yiken.” The video also features Kaboom! Magazine.com “13 Most Influential People of 2013” member Yiken Queen #GetItIndy. 98. Childish Gambino “3005” After spending most of 2013 in hibernation, late July, Childish Gambino came out of nowhere and decided to flood the internet with incredible new music. In December, he released his new EP “Because the Internet” and premiered the video “3005.” Simple but very creative, Gambino plays the “3rd Wheel” on a Hollywood Ferris Wheel while a couple of teddy bears are on a date. 97. Young Dro “F.D.B. (F*ck Dat Bitch)” ATL recording artist Young Dro’s had the trap jumpin’ with his new regional smash, “FDB”. The record grew into an undeniable southern anthem once it hit the web. Gathering up multiple remixes to the record featuring ATL elites; including, Childish Gambino, T.I., Trinidad Jame$, B.O.B., and DJ Drama. “F.D.B” was Dro’s biggest hit since his debut single “Shoulder Lean” back in the early 2000’s. 96. Lil Debbie “Bitches” Bay Area rapper Lil Debbie broke out in 2013 and became the hardest white girl in music. The Oakland native dropped two mixtapes in 2013 and embarked on her first US tour with Riff Raff. Showing us that she is here to stay, Debbie released one of the best music video of the year entitled “Bitches.” In the video, she shows us how bad she was in the past, how bad she is in the present, and how bad her crew will be in 2065. 95. Racella “Fallin” We’ never ask for money, because money can’t buy us love. Southern California Singer/Songwriter Racella agrees with our theory in her new video “Fallin”. In the video Racella walks around Los Angeles with only thoughts of boyfriend in her head and a guitar in her hand as she lets us know that true love doesn’t cost a thing. 94. Ariana Grande “Right There” feat. Big Sean Two of the biggest stars of 2013 came together and took a fairy tale approach to the video that landed them the #94 spot on the countdown. Ariana Grande moved on from being a child star and became an adult superstar in 2013. She released her debut album this year “Truly Yours” and won the “New Artist of the Year” award at the 2013 American Music Awards. 93. Revenge of the Nerds “FSSU (F*ck Sum Sh*t Up) Southern California Indie trio R3venge of the Nerds built up a buzz leading into the summer with the release of their latest video, “FSSU”. The infused Rock and Indie pop joint hit Vevo back in June and has carried the ROTN into a larger demographic thanks to several different media outlets. “FSSU” delivers that high-energy, care free, and catchy sound we haven’t heard since the days of N.E.R.D and Gym Class Heroes. 92. TeeFlii “This D” While giving someone “The D” was a popular sexual phrase in 2013, no one did it better than the Los Angeles crooner Teeflii with his popular cut, “This D.” Off the strength of the record, the singer/producer birthed a critically-acclaimed mixtape; Fireworks and a Los Angeles one-night showcase concert hosted by DJ Carisma and Young California. “This D” has produced remixes from both Game and Jadakiss. 91. T-Pain “Up Down (Do This All Day)” feat. B.O.B Gone are his traditional dreadlocks, T-Pain took us all the way back to the early 90’s in his biggest tack in a very long time “Up Down (Do This All Day).” Featuring ATL’s favorite alien B.O.B; Pain invited friends over for an old school 90’s BBQ that found him trying his best to impress the finest girl on the block. The video shows a special guest appearance from Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson. 90. Sebastian Mikal “Last Night” feat. Wale Swedish singer/songwriter Sebastian Mikael made his grand entrance in 2013 linking up with MMG heavyweight Wale for his debut video “Last Night.” Featuring Miami sex appeal and characteristically suave, Mikal provided some much-needed love jones to the R&B scene. 89. Sevyen Streeter “It Won’t Stop” Sevyn Streeter is a vision in the sexy music video for “It Won’t Stop” featuring Chris Brown. The burgeoning R&B star enjoys the sun and sand as she shows off her silky moves at the beach, and shares intimate moments with her co-star Portland Trail Blazers forward Dorell Wright. Chris and friends join Sevyn for an overnight bonfire by the ocean, as she belts out the seductive single, in the stunning Brown-directed video. 88. Roach Gigz “Pu$$y Magnet” feat. Kreyshawn Coming in at #88 is the unexpected catchy tune from premiere Bay Area artist Roach Gigz, the hit-single off his Roachy Balboa 3 mixtape, “Pussy Magnet”. The Kreayshawn-assisted song became a must-have for the summertime fling. In a matter of a few months, the record accumulated over 200k views on it’s visual presentation. It is safe to say that the Bay has found it’s new golden boy from the City of Gold ironically. 87. Mack Wilds “Own It” Wilds take to the streets of New York where he engages in graffiti tagging across the city. After noticing that somebody else has been spray painting over his tags/work he then comes in direct contact with the culprit who turns out to be a female who shares a similar artistic passion to his own. Wilds received his first Grammy Award nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album for New York: A Love Story at the 56th Grammy Awards to be held on January 26, 2014. Mack-Wilds-New-York-A-Love-Story 86. Machine Gun Kelly “Swing Life Away” feat. Kelly Quinn No dream comes without great sacrifice. Bad Boy rock star Machine Gun Kelly shows us his struggles coming up as an unsigned rapper just wanting to be heard in the music video “Swing Life Away.” MGK had to go through family problems causing him to runaway from home, music problems as people wouldn’t take him seriously because he was white, and domestic issues trying to keep his girlfriend happy in a room full of groupies. When the odds are stacked up against you; you either stack the odds in your favor or fold to the pressure. 85. Jazmin Sisters “You” Crystal Pepsi, Save by the Bell, MTV, Super Nintendo, and good old R&B music….and people wonder why we love the 90′s so damn much. Los Angeles R&B family Jazmin Sisters pay tribute to everyone favorite R&B era in their music video “You” off their 2013 EP “90′s Baby.” 84. Justin Timberlake “Take Back the Night” One of three videos that will be featured on our exclusive countdown, Justin Timberlake debuts on the list with the first single off his 2nd album of the year “The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2.” Dropping on the same day as the release of his multi-platinum selling “The 20/20 Experience”, “Take Back the Night” was simply ahead of its time. The record wasn’t ready for release with JT’s two other mega hits “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors” at the top of the charts. Promoting the joint on his new venture Budweiser commercials served the record some sort of justice to say the least. 83. Jessenia Vice “In Love with the DJ” Latin model turned singer Jessina Vice brings her own unique latin flavor and sexiness to her first single/music video entitled “In Love with the DJ.” On the track, Vice confesses her undying love to the DJ and the dance floor. DJ Pauly D premiered Jessnia track during a Las Vegas DJ set and the crowd went crazy loving the record. Big things are being planned for Jessenia in 2014, as she plans to release more exciting new music and a new stylish boots collection entitled “Black Out JVs.” 82. Robin Thicke “Give It 2 U” feat. 2 Chainz & Kendrick Lamar It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that Robin Thicke had the best year of his career in 2013. He starred in the biggest reality show of the year (Real Husbands of Hollywood) and his song “Blurred Lines” was the biggest song of the year. Thicke also had huge success with the 2nd single off his “Blurred Lines” album entitled “Give It 2 U” featuring 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar. 81. Jhene Aiko “The Worst” In 2013, Jhene Aiko finally broke out in hip-hop as she was featured on tracks alongside Drake, Big Sean, and J.Cole. Jhene also released a highly anticipated EP “Sail Out” that provided us with a few loveable tracks. One of those tracks was “The Worst” a hate you/love you/hate you ballad that leaves Aiko undecided if she should stay or leave the current relationship. These thoughts send Jhene over the edge as she accidently kills her boyfriend. Now with the cops outside of her home, she is left wondering if she had made a mistake or did exactly what she wanted to do. 80. Sage The Gemini “Red Nose” Safe to say the most memorable dance cut of 2013 will have to be the Bay Area blockbuster from newcomer Sage the Gemini with “Red Nose”.
