KABOOM! MAGAZINE.COM TOP 10 PEOPLE OF THE WEEK
They’ve kept our eyes glued to our TV screen, gave us something to talk about all day on social media, and their lives help us get through another grueling school or work week. But which celebs had the best week of them all? Today, Kaboom! Magazine.com lets you know who star shined the brightest this past week in “Top 10 People of the Week.” Each week, Kaboom! picks 10 celebs, athletes, entertainers, or regular people who we feel had the best week of them all. This week, our countdown is filled with some of record-setting performers, No.1 albums, and A American brick wall claiming the No. 1 spot. 640_beyonce_20130203_160620172 10. Beyonce Starting our countdown again this week is arguably the most powerful woman on the planet. Beyonce Knowles tops this year’s list of Celebrity 100 by Forbes. The “Single Ladies” singer knocks Oprah Winfrey out of the first place this year as the media mogul sits at No. 4. The second place is taken by LeBron James, while Dr. Dre takes the third spot. Ellen DeGeneres rounds out the top five. August-Alsina-Downtown-Video 9. August Alsina Introducing himself to the No. 9 spot on the countdown this week is southern R&B prince August Alsina. Alsina was nominated for 4 awards at this BET awards and managed to walk away with the award for “Best New Artist”. August also showcased his talents at the awards show with an incredible live performance that featured Trey Songz and Chris Brown. The New Orleans native also managed to release a brand new music video featuring Rick Ross entitled “Benediction”. Trey-Songz-041712 8. Trey Songz Oooooooh Na Na….look what we’ve done started at the No. 8 spot. Trey Songz released his high-anticipated 6th album “Trigga” last week. Trey declares his 6th album his best album of his career lead by the hit-single “Na Na”. The new album features Justin Bieber, Juicy J, Nicki Minaj, Ty Dolla $ign and rising R&B star Mila J, who can be heard on the track “Disrespectful.” Lastly, Songz showed us that a rising acting career hasn’t affected his way to make the ladies underwear wet as he performed with August Alsina and Chris Brown at the 2014 BET Awards. ten_g_djok_600x400 7. Novak Djokovic The No. 7 man on our countdown this week just recently came off one of the best matches in the history of tennis. Novak Djokovic clutched the most coveted award in his sport, the gilded silver, two-handled trophy presented to the winner of the Wimbledon men’s singles title. Novak Djokovic won his second Wimbledon title and denied Roger Federer his record eighth by outlasting the Swiss player in five sets Sunday. Djokovic wasted a 5-2 lead, and a match point, in the fourth set but held on for a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-4 Centre Court victory that returned the Serbian player to the No. 1 ranking. GTY_jessica_simpson_jef_140505_16x9_992 6. Jessica Simpson The week of your wedding day is always a big week for a bride and last week there was no one more famous than the No. 6 person on our countdown. Jessica Simpson tied the knot Saturday afternoon with former NFL tight-end Eric Johnson at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, CA. Simpson wore a custom Carolina Herrera gown to recite vows with Johnson as more than 250 guests looked on. Her parents, Joe and Tina Simpson, were in attendance, along with Ashlee Simpson and fiancé Evan Ross, Jessica Alba and Cash Warren and the bride’s friend and former personal assistant, CaCee Cobb and husband Donald Faison. The newlyweds’ son Ace, 1, was the ring bearer, and daughter Maxwell, 2, was flower girl, strolling the aisle with Ashlee’s son, Bronx, 5. chris-weidman 5. Chris Weidman With it being the weekend for America, it’s only fitting that the No. 5 member on our countdown is considered an “All-American”. Chris Weidman is the UFC middleweight champ, tall and proud, defeating Lyoto Machida in an instant classic. The fight was all Weidman early, taking it to the former light-heavyweight champion through aggression and sheer brute force. According to prelimary FightMetric stats, the champion outstruck the challenger 90-63, and had five takedowns against an opponent who is among the best in takedown defense in UFC history. eazytthheader-900x636 4. G-Eazy It’s been a big year for music coming out of the Bay Area and continuing that current legacy is No. 4 G-Eazy. Independently-distributed rapper G-Eazy — who has yet to notch a hit single on the Rap Airplay chart — enters the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Rap Albums charts at No. 1 with “These Things Happen.” The new album sold more than 46,000 copies in his first week sales the most of his career. With the arrival atop Rap Albums, it marks the first No. 1 album in 2014 by an act that’s never scored a hit on the Rap Airplay tally. The last artist to do so was Childish Gambino, last December, when his “Because the Internet” opened at No. 1. Ronda-Rousey-2014-Wallpaper-1600x900 3. Ronda Rousey The No. 3 member on our countdown this week probably had one of the most impressive and quickest weeks of all-time. UFC Golden Girl Ronda Rousey proved once again that she is the most dominant female athlete on the planet. The UFC women’s bantamweight champion had the most dominant performance of her dominant career, stopping Alexis Davis in 16 seconds. The fight was a blur. Rousey wobbled Davis with a right hand behind the ear, landed a knee, used a judo throw to put Davis on the mat, and landed a series of undefended punches until Davis was unconscious. She is now 10-0 after her second straight KO win. The last came against Sara McMann in February. Prior to that, all eight of her wins had come by armbar submission. ed-sheeran-2013-teen-choice-awards-02 2. Ed Sheeran He may be No. 2 on our countdown, but he is No. 1 everywhere else. Ed Sheeran’s latest album, “X” has come out at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The British redhead’s second studio effort, makes its debut at the chart’s top spot after selling 210,000 copies. The album gives Sheeran his best sales week so far. It also posts the largest debut for a pop album this year and the fourth highest overall behind Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories”. tim-howard-soccer-world-cup-qualifier-mexico-usa 1. Tim Howard We saved the No.1 spot on our countdown for America very own version of a brick wall. The United States was eliminated from the World Cup on Tuesday night in the round of 16, but even in defeat, Tim Howard may have earned himself a statue in the nation’s capital. Facing a never-ending Belgium onslaught for 120 minutes, the veteran American goalkeeper tallied an amazing 16 saves. Howard save totals is the most ever recorded for a World Cup game. Nevertheless, it was a heroic effort from the 35-year-old. AGREE WITH OUR COUNTDOWN? THINK SOMEBODY ON THIS COUNTDOWN SHOULD BE REPLACED? LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
