“WHO’S WHO OF 2014” YEAR-IN-REVIEW: DJ NO EQUAL
The holiday season is upon us and that means 2014 is quickly coming to an end. In honor of 2014, Kaboom! Magazine.com is getting together some of our favorite musicians, actors, fashion designers, models, athletes, and entertainment personality for our annual “Year-in-Review” feature. We will be asking some of our favorite celebs their favorite moments of the year and how they are preparing for an explosive 2015. Today, we get the chance to catch up with DJ No Equal. No Equal was all over the place in 2014, whether it was hanging backstage with some of the hottest trap artist on the planet like Loudpvck, Performing infront of thousands at a moments notice, or building a fashion empire; she defiantly managed to live up to her reputation as “Queen of the Trap.” No Equal will tells us some of her favorite moments in 2014. Plus she will tell us why what she did in 2014 will be nothing compared to what she does in 2015. No Equal Info: Age: Never matters. Zodiac Sign: Gemini Current Location: Los Angeles Occupation: Music Producer, DJ Twitter: @iAmNoEqual Instagram: @iAmNoEqual If you could define 2014 in one hashtag it would be…..? #transformational If you had to describe 2014 using one celebrity it would be…..? Beyonce What is the most valuable lesson you learned in 2014? Trust in yourself and God’s timing, and don’t depend on the validation of others. What was your biggest achievement of 2014? Getting back in the studio to produce music again. What is something that you wish you did in 2014? I wish I had taken the EQ EDM network further after all our initial success, but I reached a point where my schedule as an artist didn’t allow for it anymore. I had to choose. I chose my first and lifelong passion – music. I’ll bring EQ back one day. Funniest thing you saw in 2014? If I told you, I’d be getting a certain artist and a stripper with a taco tattoo in trouble. (That wasn’t a typo.) Best concert or sporting event you attended in 2014? Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL. The entire week was morning-to-night concerts with all my artist and industry friends in one of my favorite cities in the world. Memories! Most Shocking Moment of 2014? Diddy made a tech/deep/??? album with Guy Gerber and now I don’t know which ear is left. In much smaller news, I made a progressive house track. It’s so different from the bass music I usually make I’m afraid to release it. My fans need to know which ear is left too. If you could leave one thing behind in 2014, it would be…..? Self-doubt Best Meal of 2014? Dinner with my family 2 days before Thanksgiving. I made some horrible “healthy” stir fry with coconut oil and it was awful. But it was the first time my father, my new step-mom and I ever truly bonded. Favorite Book of 2014? Tony Robbins – Unleash The Power Within. I attended his last UPW seminar of the year in Dallas in October and it changed me in so many ways. Favorite Movie of 2014? Maleficent because Angelina Jolie is amazing and because DISNEY. It also helps that it’s one of two movies I’ve seen this year. I don’t watch movies. Favorite TV Show of 2014? New Girl!!! The (somewhat) hidden sarcastic bitch in me loves every single person in that show so hard. I’m almost always the only female in the room in my industry, so I love watching all the guy shit go down like “THIS IS MY LIFE”. I freaking want to live in their apartment. I would be constantly entertained. Favorite Album of 2014? Beyonce “Beyonce” (Obviously, I’m obsessed. Whatever, Beyonce is a queen. Your argument is invalid.) Favorite Music Video of 2014? Beyonce and Nicki Minaj “Flawless Remix” Two of the most powerful women in the biz at their best, live. And because these two words sum up the entire video: “Swag, bitch.” Favorite Shoes of 2014? My thigh-high black leather strappy boot stilettos by Calvin Klein. Favorite Website of 2014? Amazon.com. I discovered Amazon Prime and it was game over. Free 2 day shipping?? Somebody take my credit card. Favorite Technology of 2014? The phone. Pick it up and call, people. This texting nonsense is ridiculous for long convos. You can’t get have authentic conversations through emojis. Grow some balls. Have a real convo. “IRL”. Favorite Social Media of 2014? Facebook, still. I don’t feel like I can have full interactions with anyone via the other ones. What are you most looking forward to in 2015? Finally putting out some of the music I’ve been working on the past few months! Why should we lookout for you in 2015? Because I’ve been off the radar working on my next step for a minute now, and any time there’s radio silence from me a storm is brewin’. Imma quote Jay on this one: “Y’all should be afraid of what I’m gonna do next.” Hold up… Words of Wisdom heading into 2015? “The truth is we spend so much time focused on the size of our fears when we should be focused on the size of our God.” – Erwin McManus *Checkout more celebrities thoughts on 2014 right now at Who’s Who of 2014
