JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TALKS “THE 20/20 EXPERIENCE” CONCERT MOVIE
The last date on Justin Timberlake’s wrapped-up “20/20 Experience World Tour ” tour was captured on camera and will be released as a film. Still untitled, the concert movie is directed by Oscar winner Jonathan Demme. “It’s very emotional, very exciting,” Demme told EW. “It’s a space age music film!” Describing the film, Demme said, “There’s tremendous dancing in this piece. He’s got an extraordinary band called the Tennessee Kids. Huge horn section, two lead guitars, two drummers, eight dancers, four exquisite background singers. And we caught them on their last performance.” Timberlake, whom Demme called “a funky Fred Astaire!”, embarked on a 134 date in the span of 14 months to promote his fourth studio album “The 20/20 Experience”. He closed the tour with the performance in Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, singing nearly 30 songs in a 3-hour show. Demme, best known for his work in “The Silence of the Lambs”, is no stranger to capturing live performance. He directed concert documentaries for Neil Young, Kenny Chesney and a music video for Bruce Springsteen. He recently directed “Ricki and the Flash” which stars Meryl Streep as aging rocker. The Justin Timberlake concert film is yet to get a distributor.
