SMU F SET A GOAL:   The first step to any level of success is to set a goal and pursue it daily. Most people want to either gain muscle or lose weight and they do not have a goal. When I am dieting for a goal, I set a date and I will put alarms in my phones to eat and workout everyday so that I am certain to hit my goal by my deadline. IMG_5097_0889 BE PREPARED: When you are on the journey of pursuing your fitness goal it is very important that you are prepared when it is time to eat! One must prepare the right food in the right proportions and eat consistently throughout the day without being hungry for long periods of time. This is called meal preparation, or “meal prepping.” I will typically cook all of my meals for the week either on Saturdays or Sundays and freeze them to keep fresh. I try to avoid microwaves as much as possible so I will use my personal oven once food is thawed out. 12328181_526917880807974_631526666_n HIT THE GYM IN THE A.M.: When you train in the morning, it can dictate your whole day in a positive way. It revs up your metabolism and keeps it elevated for hours. That means you’re burning more calories all day long just because of your morning workout! D1 NO STINKING THINKING: We tend to get discouraged when we do not see the scale move instantly after we’ve worked out for a couple of days consistently. We want overnight results when we are working towards our fitness goals. Keep YOURSELF encouraged and motivated to carry on because it is too easy to give up when we become frustrated. This type of thinking will get you nowhere in terms of your fitness goals and life in general. You have to put your stinking thinking aside and persevere to experience the victory that comes with delayed gratification. I strongly suggest to never compare yourself to others and always keep in mind that building a nice body takes time and consistent efforts. _DSC0020 PARTNER UP: Having a workout partner helps you stay on track and motivated, especially for those who have a competitive spirit. It feels good when others can witness your body changing and go through the journey with you so you can provide support for them as well.  On the days you are not on track, a good partner will be on track to hold you accountable. If they work with you, they will be the deterrent you need to resist the donuts the boss bought for the team and if your partner lives with you, they will see your eating habits and deter you from purchasing unhealthy groceries. You can also rotate responsibilities on meal prepping or work as a team! My weekly workouts can look something like this: Monday: 5:30 a.m. 30 fasted cardio and abs. 6:00 p.m.  Shoulders and Trapezius Tuesday: Chest and Leg Day Wednesday: Back/ Biceps/ Abs Thursday: 5:30 a.m. 30 fasted cardio and abs.6:00 p.m. Back (Focus on low/mid) Friday: Biceps and triceps. 20 mins cardio after workout 11260297_922776714463231_682883409_n FOLLOW DARREN TAYLOR FITNESS JOURNEY RIGHT NOW ON THESE FOLLOWING SOCIAL MEDIA WEBSITES: Instagram: @M500K Twitter: @Darren_Taylor
