AMY SCHUMER & WALE AT WHITE HOUSE FOR ANNOUNCEMENT ON GUN MEASURES

Among the exclusive audience gathered at the White House on Tuesday for President Obama’s announcement of executive orders aimed at stemming gun violence were two familiar — if seemingly unlikely— faces. Actress/comedian Amy Schumer and rapper Wale had prime seats for the East Room announcement. But the two celebs aren’t random picks. Schumer has been an advocate for gun control since a gunman killed two audience members at a screening of her movie “Trainwreck” in July. She’s teamed up with her cousin once removed (that’s her dad’s first cousin), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on the issue, and the duo has dubbed themselves “Schumer & Schumer.” Wale has been a go-to supporter for the White House on other issues, including the first lady’s initiative helping troubled teens reach college. And although the White House surely hoped the presence of big names (and, via tweets and posts, their vast and young-skewing social media audiences) would bring more attention to the issue, the burning question for viewers star-gazing at Tuesday’s presser might have less to do with the nuances of gun policy than typical tabloid fare: Just who was the “man” Schumer was referring to in her tweets?
