CAT ZINGANO FEELS MIESHA TATE SHOULD WANT TO AVENGE HER LOSSES

The last time UFC fans saw Cat Zingano fight was February 28, 2015. Zingano entered the bout as the No. 1 contender for the UFC women’s bantamweight title. At the time, Ronda Rousey held that belt. Both fighters were unbeaten, Zingano 9-0 with eight stoppages and Rousey 10-0 with 10 stoppages.

The fight lasted 14 seconds.

Zingano ran to meet Rousey and looked for a headlock. When she missed, Rousey used Zingano’s momentum to take the fight to the floor and seamlessly transition into an armbar, forcing Zingano to tap.

Since then, Rousey has lost her title to Holly Holm, who subsequently lost to Miesha Tate. Zingano, despite her inactivity, remains ranked No. 3, behind Holm and Rousey. At UFC 200, Zingano will make her return, facing the No. 5 ranked Julianna Pena.

Zingano, now fighting out of Alliance MMA, recently spoke to MMAFighting about the changes that have taken place in her division.

Zingano said that she hopes if she can get past Pena at UFC 200 that she will be in a spot to once again contend for the title.
