BARNES & NOBLES TO SELL ADULT BEVERAGES IN FOUR CITIES

BARNES & NOBLES TO SELL ADULT BEVERAGES IN FOUR CITIES

While shopping for a good book may seem like a calm, soothing and even therapeutic process, Barnes & Noble wants to liven things up by serving booze at four lucky locations across the country!

The new beer and wine concept is set to launch this October at a store in Eastchester, NY with a few other locations to follow: the Edina Galleria in Edina, MN, the Palladio in Folsom, CA, and One Loudon in Loudon, VA. Alcohol will be available at a restaurant located within each of the four shops that will also boast an expanded food menu—making a visit to Barnes & Noble more of an “experience” rather than just a destination. Drunk book shopping, anyone?!

For those who are worried about patrons getting too rowdy in an otherwise low-key environment, hard liquor will unfortunately not be available. And as Amazon continues to wipe out bookstores across the nation, the last major brick and mortar book retailer in the U.S. is hoping it’s boozy beer and wine concept will boost sales among online competitors.

According to Yahoo, Barnes & Noble’s Chief Operating Officer Jaime Carey has been appointed to trail blaze the bookstore’s new concept: “Jaime’s promotion underscores the importance of having a leader devoted to our new store concepts with a focus on an enhanced restaurant experience,” Chief Executive Officer Ron Boire said in a statement.

While many Barnes & Noble locations currently house a Starbucks, it appears patrons will soon be able to get more than just a caffeine rush with the bookstore’s new alcohol-inspired concept.
