Nintendo’s Discontinued NES Classic Triples in Price on eBay

Nintendo’s Discontinued NES Classic Triples in Price on eBay

Nintendo of America recently discontinued the miniaturized take on the Nintendo Entertainment System, the beloved NES Classic. Those in North America who were not able to purchase one, will now have to look to eBay to suffice. However, with such high demands for the gaming system — and with its now discontinued status — prices are skyrocketing on the online auction site.

Though listings for the NES Classic can be found for up towards $25,000 USD, these aren’t necessarily “real” postings. With some digging up by Kotaku, the highest price for a console actually being sold was closer to $400 USD, a similar price to the Nintendo Switch. Data collected over at PriceCharting, showed that listings for the NES Classic averaged at $144 USD back in March and has now recached an average of $352 USD in April. The retail price of the NES Classic was listed at $59.99 USD when it first dropped.

It was also recently unveiled that Nintendo has sold more Switch copies of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild than actual Switches.
