BET WILL PRODUCE A MINI-SERIES ON DEATH ROW RECORDS

Since 2015 there has been biographical films, whether released or in the works, on N.W.A. (Straight Outta Compton), 2Pac, New Edition, Nas, Michel’le, Master P, Pharrell and Roc-A-Fella Records. And this excludes made-for-TV flicks on TLC, Aaliyah, Toni Braxton and Whitney Houston.

So, why not add one more to the mix?

BET, the network behind the successful The New Edition Story now has plans to bring the tale of Death Row Records to life. Already working on Nas’ Street Dreams series, the network has begun production on Death Row Chronicles. “Part true-crime murder mystery and part hip-hop drama,” Billboard is reporting that the series will be composed of six, one-hour episodes that will “provide an unvarnished look at the rise, fall and musical/cultural legacy of the indie label powerhouse.”

The show will, of course, touch upon its once-mighty roster of artists, including Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, 2Pac, Tha Dogg Pound and Suge Knight.

Death Row Chronicles is set to begin production this Spring, and will debut on the channel sometime in the Summer 2018.
