Jon Stewart Returns to Stand-Up after More Than 20 Years for HBO Special

Jon Stewart Returns to Stand-Up after More Than 20 Years for HBO Special

After stepping away from 16 years as host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart cleared the way for his successor, comedian Trevor Noah, to helm the series. Although The Daily Show is doing well, fans still miss Jon’s humor and politically charged takes. Expect both in tandem, as Jon Stewart will be recording his first stand-up special in more than 20 years. The special doesn’t have a name, date, or location, but it will be an HBO special and will be his first special since 1996′s Jon Stewart: Unleavened.

“I’m really thrilled to be able to return to stand-up on HBO,” said Jon in a statement. ”They’ve always set the standard for great stand-up specials. Plus, I can finally use up the last of the Saddam Hussein jokes left over from my first special.” Stewart will also host HBO’s “Night of Too Many Stars,” a benefit show in Madison Square Garden on November 18 for the nonprofit organization NEXT for Autism.
