Kaboom! Magazine.com Top 10 People of the Week Feat. Cardi B, Stipe Miocic, & Nick Foles

They’ve kept us glued to our TV screens, kept us posting memes all day on social media, and helped us get through another grueling school or work week. But which celebs had the best week of them all? Today, Kaboom! Magazine.com lets you know who’s star shined the brightest this past week in “Top 10 People of the Week.” Each week, Kaboom! picks 10 celebs, athletes, entertainers, or regular people who we feel had the best week of them all. This week, our list is filled with some of record-setting performers and emerging athletes.

10. Bruno Mars
We start the list this week with a man who is successfully sharing his music all over the world. Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic World Tour” has proven to be quite magical. The global trek has amassed more than $200 million in earnings. The latest figures have allowed Mars to top the Hot Tours chart this week, grossing $37.4 million from 408,443 tickets sold. Over the course of 115 headlining performances, Mars has sold 2 million tickets, grossing $200 million thus far. This week, Mars’ Cardi B-assisted single “Finesse” reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Following “24K Magic” and “That’s What I Like,” the song grants Mars a special distinction, tying Mariah Carey and Beyoncé as the only artist with three top 5 Hot 100 hits from each of their first three albums, according to Billboard. Bruno and Cardi will perform the ’90s-inspired song at the 60th Annual Grammys on Jan. 28.

9. Daniel Cormier
Daniel Cormier was already the UFC’s light heavyweight champion going into this weekend, but now he actually feels like it. Cormier (20-1) defended his 205-pound title Saturday, as he finished Volkan Oezdemir via TKO in the second round. The championship fight co-headlined UFC 220 inside TD Garden. It was his first appearance since he lost the title to Jon Jones at UFC 214 last July. He was reinstated as UFC champion after Jones failed a drug test, but said he wouldn’t feel like a champion until he got back in the win column. Fighting out of American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Cormier has recorded four total title defenses in his career.

8. Cardi B
Cardi B is going from the Billboard charts to the big screen. The Bronx bombshell has just landed her first movie deal.. The motion picture is set to start filming in March, but the title and content of the film remain under wraps. In order to participate in the movie, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper had to make some money moves, canceling gigs that would have earned her between $100,000 and $200,000. Bardi also stars in I’m Here Muthaf*ckas, a new TIDAL documentary about her rise from the Bronx and her trip to Miami for Moschino’s Art Basel bash. The film features G-Eazy, Paris Hilton, and Jeremy Scott.

7. Errol Spence Jr.
Already regarded by many as one of the best fighters in the world, Spence put on a sensational performance in a one-sided destruction of Lamont Peterson, stopping him in the eighth round to retain his welterweight world title for the first time Saturday night before 12,107 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It was a Spence house, and they saw him brutalize Peterson, a highly regarded former two-division world titleholder. But he was no match for the Spence freight train many believe will someday ride to the top of the pound-for-pound list. Spence (23-0, 20 KOs) was making the first defense of the 147-pound world title he won so impressively last May. That’s when Spence, the 2012 U.S. Olympian and 2015 ESPN.com prospect of the year, traveled to Kell Brook’s hometown of Sheffield, England, and stopped him in the 11th round.

6. Florian Munteanu
Romanian boxer Florian “Big Nasty” Munteanu has been cast in the role of Ivan Drago’s son in the upcoming film Creed II. Sylvester Stallone posted a congratulatory note about the casting on Instagram. Florian Munteanu’s character will fight Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed in the ring. Both Sylvester Stallone and Dolph Lundgren will also reprise their Rocky IV roles as Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago, who both clashed in the iconic fight at the end of that movie, after Drago killed Apollo Creed in what was supposed to be an exhibition bout.

5. Zion Williams
Kids make decisions on which college they will be attending everyday, but our No. 5 selection had the world and the careers of a few college coaches hanging on every breath as he made his much-anticipated decision. Internet sensation Zion Williamson, the No. 3 player in the nation, is headed to Duke University. Williamson (6-6, 275) picked Duke over UNC, Clemson, Kansas, South Carolina and Kentucky. “Duke stood out because the brotherhood represents a family,” Williamson said after pulling a Duke hat out of a bag live on ESPN. The No. 1 power forward in the nation will join R.J. Barrett (6-7, 200), the No. 1 player in the nation; Cam Reddish (6-7, 211), the No. 2 player, and Tre Jones (6-2, 175), the No. 8 player in the nation. All four players will participate in the McDonald’s All-American game on March 28 in Atlanta.

4. Chris Redd
Our No. 4 pick creates an instant SNL classic by putting a new dark spin to an iconic sitcom. In the fantastic Saturday Night Live sketch, new SNL cast member Chris Redd plays Will Smith’s character from the hit 90s show “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” But instead of wacky hijinx such as Carlton getting high on speed pills that he thought were vitamins, the Fresh Prince gets caught up in an all-out war and shootout between the Yakuza and the dangerous Philly gang led by Method Man. But like all great Fresh Prince episodes, Uncle Phil (played by Kenan Thompson) bails Will out, however, this time he did so with a pump shotgun. Will even gets taken advantage of by a supposed FBI agent, played by Jessica Chastain, who was the host of last night’s SNL episode. Next thing Will knows he takes up another identity to sit on his dirt throne as the Prince of New Hampshire. Redd has only been a cast member of the legendary sitcom for a few months, but has already shared the stage with iconic figures such as Chance The Rapper, P!nk, and Kevin Hart.

3. Nick Foles
On the biggest stage of his life, Foles silenced the critics who thought the Eagles couldn’t get to the Super Bowl without MVP candidate Carson Wentz. Foles threw for 352 and three touchdowns to lead Philadelphia to a convincing 38-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game Sunday. Now he’s headed to Minnesota to face Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. Foles put on a passing clinic, completing 78.8 percent of his passes (26 of 33). Not bad for a guy who contemplated retirement before the 2016 season. He’ll become a folk hero if he can deliver the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl title.

2. Ed Sheeran
SORRY LADIES! Our No. 2 selection is officially off of the market. Ed Sheeran has found his “Perfect” girl. The pop sensation has announced his engagement to Cherry Seaborn, his girlfriend of nearly three years. Taking to Instagram, the 26-year-old chart-topper announced the big news. “Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” he wrote. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.” Sheeran has made reference to Seaborn on various songs, including “Perfect.” “We were just kids when we fell in love, not knowing what it was,” he sings on the track. “I will not give you up this time.” On Swift’s “End Game,” he adds: “Knew her when I was young / Reconnected when we were little bit older, both sprung.” Congrats to the couple!

1. Stipe Miocic
Could our No. 1 selection be the greatest? Stipe Miocic set the UFC heavyweight record with his third straight successful title defense, turning the anticipated slugfest against Francis Ngannou into a methodical and masterful ground-and-pound bout to win the main event of UFC 220 at TD Garden. Miocic won 50-44 on all three scorecards early on Sunday and was never seriously tested by the raw and unrefined Ngannou. Miocic beat Fabrício Werdum to win the heavyweight title in May 2016, and followed with wins against Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos and now Ngannou to slug his way into the record book.
