Uber Is Now Offering Car Rentals

Uber has teamed with car-sharing service Getaround to produce Uber Rent, a car renting service that finds and unlocks cars listed in the app to rent by the hour or day. A range of sedans and SUVs will be available for all your transportation needs and the service is expected to begin in Uber/Getaround’s home city of San Francisco before a wider rollout in the future.

Uber’s CEO also announced plans to integrate new transportation options to its app that include bikes and public transportation. The platform acquired dockless bike-share company Jump and announced Washington customers will have the option to reserve and pay for their bikes via Uber. The car service will also partner with London-based mobile ticketing company Masabi to allow users to buy and use transit tickets on the app.

The tech is already being utilized by the likes of New York’s MTA, Boston’s MBTA, the UK’s National Express Bus, Las Vegas’ RTC, Los Angeles’ Metrolink, and more. Lastly, Uber has plans to expand its online tool for mapping travel times to other cities like Amsterdam, Bangalore, Perth, Pittsburgh, and Toronto and offer trip tracking information.
