Greg Hardy Wins Another UFC “Contender” Series Bout by Knockout

Many doubted that Greg Hardy could make the transition from playing pro football to fighting in mixed martial arts.

The former Dallas Cowboys defensive end quieted those critics fairly quickly with each passing knockout of his opponents. Hardy was back at it again on Tuesday when he made easy work of Tebaris Gordon, earning a 17-second knockout in the headlining bout of the Dana White’s Contender Series 16 fight card.

Despite the dominant performance, UFC President Dana White doesn’t sound like a man who’s ready to give Hardy that shot to get into the UFC just yet.

“He’s got two (pro) fights now,” White said after the event. “Some of these kids coming in here have 12 or 13 fights. Some are 7-0. We got nothing, but time. He needs to get some more work in.”

Hardy has been a controversial figure in the sports’ world ever since he got convicted in 2014 of assaulting an ex-girlfriend. Those charges were later dropped, but still earned him a 10-game suspension (later reduced to four) for conduct detrimental to the NFL.
